BALI Award Winners 2018
We were delighted to win three categories in this years BALI National Landscape Awards. We were successful in the following categories:
- Domestic Garden Construction – Over £250k : Private Residence in Kensington (as pictured above)
The project designed by Ian Kitson, of Landscape Architecture and Garden Design, consisted of work to the front and rear gardens of the 1850’s house situated in the Royal Borough of Chelsea & Kensington. The major challenge was the limited access particularly to the rear garden where the ground levels had to be built up over the basement roof slab by 1.40 m. Approximately 600 m3 of subsoil and topsoil was brought in via a conveyer belt system to the rear garden through the house. The client and Ian selected 12 large specimen trees from Europe and several large ‘stepping stones’ from Cumbria which all had to be lifted over the house by a 200 tonne mobile crane.
- Ground Maintenance – Limited Public Access : Brompton Barracks
- Grounds Maintenance – Private Value Over £50k : Virginia Park
This prestigious 24 acre development in Surrey, is home to over 200 resident families and hosts numerous listed buildings and protected features. The grounds and gardens are a much-valued asset to the Estate and the residents who live there. Our objective was to present the grounds to a high standard, offering an environment which is tranquil, safe and beautiful for residents of all ages to enjoy; taking into consideration the landscape management over the longer term, rather than just the maintenance of the existing scheme.
