Biography

Starting his Horticultural /Landscape career aged 18, Simon has over 28 years’ experience in the industry and is a qualified agronomist. Working initially within the sports turf industry before moving into landscape maintenance.

Simon joined Gavin Jones in 2006 as a Contracts Manager, covering the Essex and Kent areas before being promoted to Operations manager for the Ground Maintenance Division. In 2014, Simon was invited to join the board of Directors at Gavin Jones as Grounds Maintenance Director, and then moved to Nurture through acquisition.

He is now Divisional Director South for the Nurture Landscapes Group, responsible for all Grounds Maintenance Operations within the region.

He has gained a wealth of knowledge over the years from working on a variety of projects and is experienced in all disciplines within the landscape maintenance and people management sector.

Simon is passionate about people development and delivering exceptional service to clients at every level, with quality at the forefront of his everyday philosophy.

Nick Hills

Biography

Nick has spent his whole career to date within the horticulture industry, holding various positions within the business.

Initially starting his career as an operative, Nick joined Nurture as a Contracts Manager through the acquisition of Parkview Landscapes in 2012, based in the Northwest of England. In 2014, Nick was promoted to Regional Manager and through his natural aptitude was shortly promoted again in 2015 to Regional Director for the North.

Nick is now Divisional Director of the North for the Nurture Group, having overall responsibility for the North and Scotland regions of the business.

Over the 8 years that Nick has been with Nurture, he has been integral in building the structure of the North region within the company, using his skills to manage our teams and enable Nurture to give true direct delivery on a national basis whilst still maintaining that family feel as a business.

Dylan Lewis

Biography

Dylan is responsible for the overall management of Business and Strategic Development within the Grounds Maintenance division of Gavin Jones.

Having joined Gavin Jones in 2000, Dylan has worked his way up from Foreman to Director, working on a variety of sites where he has secured BALI, IOG and Green flag awards, gaining him valuable industry experience.

Starting his career as a foreman, he was soon promoted to Site Manager at Milton Park, Oxon, where he took on the responsibility for the grounds maintenance and handyman teams, winning two national BALI awards. In 2005, Dylan was promoted to Contracts Manager, managing sites in the Oxford and South West region of England and Wales, before becoming Area Manager in 2008, increasing his portfolio to cover the North and Midlands. At this time he also took the lead in starting up and managing the Aspire contract, covering the Aldershot, Tidworth, Bulford, Larkhill and Warminster Garrisons.

He is passionate about staff development, health & safety and in delivering consistent quality of service to our clients, ensuring Gavin Jones remains a market leader in our field.

Dylan studied Horticulture and has an HND & ISOH safety ROLE.

Biography

With a Diploma in Horticulture, Gavin has 23 years’ experience within the Landscape maintenance industry of which 18 are with Gavin Jones.
Over the last 18 years since joining Gavin Jones in 2001, Gavin has a gained a wealth of experience managing prestigious maintenance contracts, mainly in central London.
His career path from operative to management has enabled him to develop a high level of both operational and management skills.
Always keeping customer service and satisfaction at the forefront, Gavin draws on these skills in his current role managing the operational performance of the London Region, for the Nurture Group.
With a Diploma in Horticulture, Gavin has 23 years’ experience in the Landscape maintenance industry. Over the last 18 years since joining Gavin Jones in 2001, he has a gained a wealth of experience managing prestigious maintenance contracts, particularly in central London.
His career path from operative to management has enabled him to develop a high level of both operational and management skills. Always keeping customer service and satisfaction at the forefront Gavin draws on these skills in his current role managing the operational performance of the London Region, for the Nurture Group.

Biography

A Landscape Management graduate, Simon is responsible for Nurture’s portfolio across central London. During his 15 years’ experience he has managed a diverse range of clients and contracts ranging from local authority, national, multi-site and corporate. The daily challenge of coordinating staff and materials in the frenetic capital has given Simon a strong customer focus and flexible attitude to client requirements. The thrill of maintaining some of the most prestigious sites in the country never leaves him.

Phil Lucas

Biography

Phil started his career at Gavin Jones as a foreman in 2002, and has worked his way up to become one of our Regional Managers. From working on a wide variety of sites, Phil has gained valuble industry knowledge and experience. He is responsible for a large number of our high profile contracts, and also oversees the company’s arboriculture department, which he played a pivotal part in setting up in back in 2006.

Due to his experience and expertise, he also looks after the majority of our sports turf related contracts for sectors including Private schools, MOD and a Premiership Rugby Club, as well as sites which have secured BALI, IOG and South East in Bloom awards.

He has studied arboriculture, horticulture and has an ISOH safety role.

Rory Manning

Regional Manager


Biography

Rory has over 10 years experience within the grounds maintenance industry. Initially joining Gavin Jones as a seasonal temp back in 2009. Through his hard work and natural talent he has worked his way up to become one of our Contracts Manager, managing a variety of contracts ranging from large static sites to smaller mobile sites across East London and into the home counties, including several of our high-profile sites such as The Athletes Village at the Olympic Park and Brompton Barracks in Chatham - The Home of the Royal Engineers, which won a BALI Award in 2018.
His ability to develop talent has ensured that his team is built of well trained and motivated staff.

Andy Mighall

Biography

Andy has over 10 years experience in the horticultural industry, starting his career as an operative on a large soft landscaping project for the MOD, which won a Principal Bali Award.

Working his way up, Andy is now a Contracts Manager, responsible for two key clients as well as looking after several static sites and two mobile teams. His sites include University’s, MOD sites and residential.

Andy has a keen interest in health and safety innovations and managing his team with a positive approach.

Biography

Andy has over 30 years experience within the horticultural industry, and has been an Area Manager since 2005 and looks after our Royal Parks and MOD contracts.

Starting his career in 1988, Andy has worked his way up from an operative to an Area Manager, working on many sites that have been awarded BALI and Green Flag Awards.

His experience includes being a head green keeper on a golf course, heading up a large schools, parks and verge maintenance contract as well as looking after cemeteries and a grave digging contract after being trained in (COTS) Institute of burial and cremation administration incorporated. Andy is well experienced in all aspects of horticulture and has developed many skills in the areas of communication, organisation, time management and employee management.

Biography

Scott has over 18 years’ experience within horticulture, starting his career as a operative before moving into foreman and supervisor roles and then into management.

He is now responsible for managing a range high end sites, both private and commercial, across the South East of England, including the multi award winning Bluewater Shopping Destination, with its large wildlife and habitats. Here he has secured Green Flag, BALI, South & South East in Bloom, Green Apple and Kent Wildlife Wild about Gardens Awards.

Scott has a flexible attitude to client requirements and thrives to deliver the best service available with new ideas to whatever challenges he faces.

Rob Aplin

Biography

Rob has worked within the horticultural industry for over 30 years, starting in the Tree Care sector as a climber, leading a team of four and carrying out local private tree works around the country. As his career progressed he started carrying out more grounds related tasks and ended up as Foreman of a five man team at Bulford Camp, delivering grounds related services for The Military. He then progressed to take over a large part of the West Wiltshire camps at Tidworth and Bulford, covering the military housing associated with these camps as well as running a 25 man team.

Through acquisition, Rob joined ISS Waterers in 2005 where he continued delivering the grounds maintenance services at Tidworth and Bulford until 2008, when Gavin Jones was awarded the Grounds and Trees on Project Allenby Contract for Salisbury Plain and Aldershot. At this point Rob was promoted to a Contracts Manager role and became responsible for looking after the Salisbury Plain area. A further five local contracts were additionally secured and are still being run in line with the Project Allenby Contract today, requiring up to a 50 man team at certain times of the year.

Due to the nature of our client and these sites, Health & Safety is of paramount importance, and it is Rob’s responsibility to ensure that whilst delivering excellent standards of Amenity Grounds Maintenance, the team working under him are following the Health and Safety requirements that are expected of them at all times.

He has been involved in securing a BALI award on The Project Allenby Contract as well as an IOG Industry award for the work carried out across the Sports Turf.

Biography

Paul has significant experience and knowledge of working within an environment that demands horticulture expertise. He has demonstrable experience in managing high profile and heavily populated sites and has sound financial management skills and a natural ability to engage and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders.

He has a proven track record in service delivery to several high profile & prestigious sites in central London and elsewhere such as The Royal Household, Imperial College Kensington, The Dorchester, Brompton Park Crescent, as well as Ascot and satellite sites around London.

Paul has a Diploma in Landscaping from Merrist Wood Agricultural College and has achieved IOSHH certificate status. He has excellent pro-active organisational, project management and PC skills, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills and embraces a ‘can do’ attitude in partnership service delivery to all his clients.

Mark Holman

Biography

Mark is our Contract Manager for Bushy Park, the second largest of the Royal Parks.

He has over 35 years experience within the landscaping and grounds maintenance industry, having joined Turfsoil on leaving school in 1985.

He has gained a wealth of knowledge over the years from working on a variety of sites including military, council and school contracts to name but a few. Starting on the ground and working his way up, Mark was promoted to a foreman role in 1998 and given responsibility for the maintenance of a municipal golf course in South London. From there he moved onto the maintenance contract of Orpington and Farnborough for Bromley Council, where, he and his team won the Green Flag award for Priory Gardens in Orpington each year from 2002, as well as winning Bromley in Bloom Awards, and helping the council win London in Bloom and Britain in Bloom Awards.

Following TUPE, he spent a number of years with The Landscape Group and then moved to Wettons.

Mark took on his current role at Bushy Park in 2014, where has won both Green Flag and Green Heritage awards.

Biography

Having originally studied in Essex, Will has over 20 years experience in the industry, and comes from a strong Horticultural background with a passion for plants.
Will initially joined Gavin Jones as a supervisor in 2008 before being promoted to Head Gardener, working around various prestigious sites in Surrey and South West London. He is a now a Contracts Manager responsible for some of our high profile sites including, Richmond Park and Chiswick House.
He is closely involved with the operational side of his work and takes pride in prioritising quality throughout his teams.

Glen Harris

Biography

Glen started at Gavin Jones 9 years ago as a seasonal operative and quickly became a valued member of the team, earning a permanent contract within the south east. With his hard work ethic and strong organisational skills Glen organically progressed through the levels, first as a foreman running a mobile team in Kent, onto becoming a supervisor at Brompton Barracks in 2015 and then on to the position he currently holds as Assistant Contracts Manager as of April 2019.

Glen has used his previous experience to assist him in managing key sites within the south east region. including Brompton Barracks, The Excel and The O2 in London. He has a thirst for improvement and works closely with customers to achieve the best for each site, which played a pivotal role in the winning of a BALI award at Brompton Barracks in 2018.

Morne Van Niekerk

Assistant Contracts Manager


Biography

Morne’ has been with the company for 10 years, starting his career working with the mobile and static site teams in South West London, leading him into a team leadership role where he took responsibility for a number of teams, managing and supporting the day to day needs, safety requirements and training. He has a good logistical mind and is always up for a challenge. His enthusiasm for his work and his eye for detail have seen him progress to a management position and he currently manages the teams at Richmond Park, one of the three London Royal Parks, where they have won both the Green Flag Award and the Green Heritage Award.

Jon Hopson

Biography

Jon has worked for Nurture for 12 years.

Starting as an operative, he has worked his way up to his current position of Contracts Manager. He has experience in all aspects of horticultural work, from tree surgery to landscaping and general grounds maintenance.

Previous to his current position, Jon was a Contracts Supervisor on a large-scale maintenance contract covering four main military barracks across the Salisbury Plain. He has helped bring these sites up to an extremely high standard and they are now one of our flagship areas showcasing what we do on a large scale.

Darren Stubbs

Assistant Contracts Manager


Biography

Darren has worked within the grounds maintenance/gardening industry for over 12 years, progressing through the ranks.

Starting his career as a seasonal ground’s maintenance worker, working on housing estates in the South of Kent, Darren progressed to a full-time role working at Gillingham Business Park. He was then promoted to a Contracts Supervisor role on the Chatham Maritime Contract, where he was responsible for running a large team and building client relationships.

Since working at Nurture, Darren has taken his passion further and gained a level 2 Diploma in parks, garden and open spaces as well as achieving a level 3 Diploma in Advanced horticulture.

Darren’s focus is on delivering excellent customer service and maintaining consistent high standards of landscape maintenance.
