Gavin Jones is an Arboricultural Association approved contractor for the provision of tree work offering a range of services in line with current British Standard BS3998, as well as industry standards, including Forestry Industry Safety Accord (FISA) and the Arboriculture and Forestry Advisory group (AFAG). We are also members of the Trust Mark Government Endorsed Stands.
We have a diverse portfolio of urban construction sites to ecologically sensitive greenfield sites, covering both domestic and commercial clients. Gavin Jones currently provides arboriculture services to a number of private and public bodies, including the Historic Royal Palaces, a number of Local Planning Authorities, the MoD, building contractors, and private estates.
We successfully supply quality, safe ad-hoc and emergency arboriculture works for a number of arboriculture framework agreements and performance contracts. Our quality is benchmarked by our Arboriculture Association Approved Contractor Scheme (AAACS) status and by the Gavin Jones quality system which conforms to ISO 9001, 14001, 18001. The current Gavin Jones tree teams have supplied arboriculture works to many high profile central London sites including The Tower of London, Hampton Court, Chiswick House and Gardens, Wellington Barracks (opposite Buckingham Palace), London Eye, Pottersfield Park (next to Mayor of London’s Office), Guys and St. Thomas Hospital (opposite Houses of Parliament), Imperial College, and Saudi Royalty’s private residences. Some of our ongoing projects include aerial disease inspections in the grounds of Tower of London and Portman Square Gardens on an annual basis.
Our teams have gained a wealth of experience in the veteranisation of trees (for habitat creation), and veteran tree management. As arboriculturalists we promote the identification and maintenance of veteran trees and their associated ecological, landscape, cultural, and conservation benefits wherever possible when undertaking survey’s, consulting, or supplying quotations. Our tree teams have operatives who are experienced in coronet cuts, winching off limbs, creating cavities, drilling holes, inoculation of wood with fungal spores, and creating monoliths. Veteranisation techniques are often requested by clients alongside services such as bat box installation.
We as a company, manage the landscape for sites of historical importance, SSSI’s, listed buildings, and wildlife sites. Our approach to this management is tailored to the specific requirements of each site. Red data book species and European protected flora and fauna as well as guidance note 10 – protected species and arboriculture 2015, published by the Arboricultural Association regularly come in to management considerations throughout our entire organisation.
Due to the growing demands of legislation, as well as our own commitment to protecting the environment through company policy and procedures and our wish to exceed industry best practice, we have established strong relations with some of the UK’s most recognised ecological specialist to ensure we conform with industry best practice to minimise the effects of our operations on the environment. Our teams have a diverse range of experience and qualifications within the sector ensuring that we are able to meet the needs of our clients. All Gavin Jones Ltd.’s works systems are based on BS3998 2010 in conjunction with Arboriculture Association guidelines and other industry good practice guides such as AFAG, FISA and internal Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental systems. As such all internal training and quality monitoring is grounded in these guiding standards as a minimum.
