Award Winning Witney
Witney is a market town, home to 23,000 inhabitants & situated between Oxford & the Gloucestershire border on the banks of the Windrush River. Gavin Jones Group has been working with Witney Town Council since January 2010 when we were awarded a 5 year contract for the maintenance of Parks & Green Spaces.
Along with the impressive carpet bedding schemes & summer/ winter floral displays, Gavin Jones Ltd also undertakes the maintenance of children’s play areas, a skate park and numerous sites for the provision of formal sports such as, bowling greens, cricket squares, football pitches, mini soccer pitches, rugby pitches, tennis courts, sports pavilions & a pitch and putt course. There are also three Cemeteries within the Town that are maintained to a very high standard, one of which has a large wildflower area & is a favourite spot for the Britain in Bloom judges to meet prior to their judging.
Throughout the contract Gavin Jones have initiated training for the operatives involved with the day to day running of the contract, including various NVQ courses & apprenticeships. Gavin Jones has close links with Abingdon and Witney College and through the summer months employs a number of students who are studying Horticulture.
Leading up to Christmas Gavin Jones actively takes part in helping the town council with its annual preparations, from collecting Christmas trees to being there on the night of the Christmas light switch on. For several years the company have sponsored an “Ice Sculpture” which attracts a lot of interest from the local community.
Witney Town Council’s vision is to put “Open Areas” and “Green Spaces” back into the heart of the community which has meant forging a strong and positive working partnership and sharing the commitment towards achieving the highest possible quality and customer satisfaction.
The Gavin Jones Group also works with numerous parish and other public sector organisations within the county delivering services via a Mobile Team. This ensures that there is a higher level of resource that can be called upon whilst also helping to keep overheads low and thus delivering a cost efficient service to Witney Town Council.
